After a high of 76, we have fallen back to 73 at WLFI as of 4:30 p.m. That 76 at the station is the coolest high temperature since June 13 when our high was 74. We will fall to 68 by 7 p.m.
We have not had an overnight low below 62 degrees since June 15 & had not had a high temperature below 80 since June 14 (until today).
Overnight lows of 54-59 are likely with spotty showers & mostly cloudy to cloudy skies & brisk northwest winds.
The morning of July 4th looks cool with lows in the viewing area at 47-53. It will not reach record levels, however!
The coldest July 4th morning at West Lafayette was 43 in 1963. The coldest July temperature on record is 42 on July 5 & 6, 1972.
The coolest July 4th high temperature is 69 in 1869 & 2009.
The hottest July 4th was 104 in 1911.
