Comfortably Cool Night………Coolest July 4th Morning Since 1996 PossibleJuly 2nd, 2014 at 10:42 pm by Chad Evans under Chad's WLFI Weather Blog
Spotty sprinkles/showers are in the area & these will pass into the night & perhaps early tomorrow morning.
It is a cool one, though! Temperatures are already 61-66 with a low stratus overcast.
We are in store for the coolest July 4th morning since 1996 when the temperature was 48 on that date (at West Lafayette). I am forecasting 51, but upper 40s are possible in our north & northeast with lower 50s in the south & near 50 in the heart of the area.
The high on July 4th will be near 80. This is a far cry from our 69 in 2009 & 1869, the two coolest on record. However, the 4th is typically very warm & humid with t’storms around.
Rain has fallen on 50% of the July 4ths & the normal high is in the mid 80s with lows in the lower to middle 60s area-wide.
By the way, Arthur, off the coast of Florida, is nearly a hurricane. Sustained winds are at 70 mph. However, the central pressure is 988 mb, which is more typical of a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. It definitely looks more symmetrical & more more organized now with convection completely around the center with an eye structure.
