8:50 P.M. Update

June 16th, 2014 at 8:54 pm by under Chad's WLFI Weather Blog

Nasty derecho is blasting Minnesota & Iowa to South Dakota.  Discrete supercells in Nebraska have been producing several large wedge tornadoes.  This will evolve into two bows & eventually gust out northeast of the viewing area overnight.

It still looks like it will stay north of our viewing area.  Any t’storms here tonight look isolated.

However, these derechos can be quirky sometimes.  I think we still need to watch our far north for late tonight-early tomorrow morning in case it would bulge on the southern end & brush our north with damaging winds.

The southern flank of the complex almost looks like it is diving more southeast than east…..
