Outlook to HalloweenOctober 15th, 2013 at 9:36 pm by Chad Evans under Chad's WLFI Weather Blog
With the end of vacation, it is time to get back to it!
After the first frost of the season Monday morning (Freeze in some places), we have certainly trended more & more into the typical mid-October mode.
The trees are finally seeing a rapid uptick in color, but the color-changing process is lagging behind. This is most likely due to the warmth of September & into early October (just recently it was 85 degrees with an overnight low of 70!).
Cold front is passing & showers & drizzle are gradually ending now after today’s overcast day with a high of 65 (after 67 yesterday [a.m. frost & 36], 70 Sunday & 79 Saturday).
Wednesday will be breezy & a bit cool with lots of sun & 58-63. West winds will run 15-25 mph. Stratocumulus clouds will pivot in from the northwest with time, so early in the day it may be mostly sunny, but a trend towards partly then mostly cloudy by afternoon.
TWO COLD FRONTS WITH LIMITED MOISTURE THIS WEEK……….PATCHY FROST IN THE FORECAST…………….
Two more cold fronts will pass this week: Thursday & Saturday. Each one may have a few very spotty showers, but nothing substantial. Each will cool highs into the 50s for a day with some patchy frost at night after brief rebounds to highs near 64.
Right now, it appears patchy frost (for at least part of the area) will exist Thursday night, Saturday night & Sunday night.
TWO ALBERTA CLIPPERS NEXT WEEK WITH COOL NORTHWEST FLOW PATTERN……….
Two Alberta Clippers will pass next week: One Monday & another Wednesday. Each will have a few spotty showers, but nothing substantial at the moment.
Highs will be cool Monday-Wednesday with 50s & lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s.
WIDESPREAD FREEZE AS COLDEST AIR OF SEASON ARRIVES LATE NEXT WEEK-EARLY NEXT WEEKEND…………...
Lows of 25-30 are possible to end next week & go into early next weekend. Thursday & Friday high temperatures will only run 46-51. Football games on the evening of October 25 could be COLD with temperatures falling to 35-40 by the end of the games.
STORMS, THEN COLD END TO THE MONTH WITH WIDESPREAD HARD FREEZE…..
The next decent, widespread rain (with even t’storms) appears to pass in the October 28-29 period with warmer temperatures near 70. The storm track does support severe threat nearby, if not in parts of the viewing area (most likely western half).
Beyond this, Halloween looks COLD with high only near 44 & lows Halloween night at 21-25.
