After hitting 45° yesterday, Lafayette is headed back into the 50s! Temperatures this afternoon will range between 50° and 55° across the viewing area; expect a high of 52° in Lafayette later today. Afternoon high temperatures will gradually warm up over the next few days. High pressure will move to our east by tomorrow morning, shifting our current northerly winds to a southerly orientation. That southerly airflow will bring a warmer and more humid air mass to the region as the weekend gets underway. Temperatures are expected to hit 57° Thursday before we warm back up into the 60s on Friday. But let’s face it, everyone is focused on Saturday. It will be our first day in the 70s since December 3rd and the warmest day since October 25th. Upper level moisture will act as a preface to scattered rainfall on Saturday night before a cold front along with a steadier rainfall arrives on Sunday. That passing front could produce scattered thunderstorms throughout the viewing area during Sunday afternoon and evening. We’ll see some lingering and light rainfall on Monday as another low pressure system arrives just in time for Tuesday. We could catch as much as 2” – 3” of rainfall between Sunday and Wednesday morning.
