Rare Late March Day with High Temperature Below 30 Degrees (So Far)
So far, we have only reached 29.2 degrees at WLFI today. It is still unknown what the high as been at the Agronomy Farm. The airport has had 28 so far.
If we fail to reach 30, today would be only 31 of 143 Marches (since 1868) that have had one or more days that have failed to reach 30 degrees March 18-31 in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area.
The coldest high temperature every recorded during this time period (1868-2013) was 18 degrees on March 20, 1885 (we also had 6″ of snow on the ground). Second coldest was 19 degrees on March 21, 1872.
Years that have had a high temperature below 30 in West Lafayette/Lafayette area: 1868, 1872, 1873, 1875, 1876, 1879, 1883, 1885, 1887, 1888, 1892, 1894, 1904, 1906, 1912, 1914, 1923, 1939, 1940, 1951, 1955, 1960, 1964, 1965, 1974, 1979, 1983, 1996, 2001, 2002, 2013.

Ryan that’s good information some of the snow total’s are impressive but the thing I noticed was the wind speeds one model was showing 45 mph gust.
Weather channel biting at this storm. Not sure what to think here.
Yeah Bill, almost “blizzard-like” conditions somewhere close here.
The blizzard is coming and the once quiet blog is alive again. That is what what we need to get this blog going a late season spring blizzard. Has this ever happened ?
