Very Warm Spring Weather Oh So Close Today……80 Kansas City to Central Missouri to Southwest St. Louis Suburbs, 70s Southern IllinoisMarch 15th, 2013 at 4:16 pm by Chad Evans under Chad's WLFI Weather Blog
Spring is oh so close today. It is currently 80 at Kansas City, Missouri, 73 at Sparta, down in southern Illinois, the southwest side of St. Louis to Rolla & Jefferson City, Missouri is around 80 & Tulsa, Oklahoma sits at 84. St. Louis-Lambert has 70, Mountain Home, Arkansas (near Missouri line) sits at 80 & Woodward, Oklahoma has 86. Many records have been tied/broken in Texas & Oklahoma that were set in the March heatwave of last year. Even Decatur, Illinois is now in the 60s.
Clipper is tracking about 65 miles farther south today, so we have actually had a few showers this afternoon, mainly along & north of U.S. 24. This has kept areas north of U.S. 24 either at 50 or only in the 40s. South of there, it has warmed up into the 50s in the viewing area.
This wave of showers in our north & east/northeast will pass, but some additional, new showers will form this evening-tonight. I cannot rule out an isolated t’shower or two.
