Wintry mix changing to rain from south to north
Wintry mix has brought less than 0.5″ frz rain sleet and bit of snow to a good chunk of the area. Winds are strong with gusts 35-40 mph at times.
Looks like largely rainfall this afternoon with the heaviest rainfallicing northward out of the area.
Rain will trend more towards snow this evening-tonight with periodic wind gusts to 35 mph.
I think the rain has washed or melted away most of the ice on the trees already. Still 32 degrees here tho
We had a lot of precip. Our low lying parts of our drive looks pretty deep under water.
Itsa mess south of Rossville. Ice on the lines and all trees are covered w/ice. And drooping pretty bad!
I hate snow but i hate this weather even more
welcome to the suck, lol
Temp is up to 34 degrees here in Crawfordsville. We had quite a bit of ice on trees, but it is melting now. This sucks, always too warm here!
Snow tonight
Ice is forming on all the trees again.
Chad all snow by 6 I take it if your graphs haven’t changed. ?
Is time frame still accurate for snow arrival. ?
Report of snow in Brook, Newton County. I have had .67 inch rain,.Radar showing transition to snow in northern Newton and Jasper Counties. Looks like snow is pushing southward, actually southeastward.

Chad,
Thanks for all u do. It is greatly appreciated. My brother even follows you and he lives in Springfield, IL!!!!!
Could you explain why precip is all rain with temp of 30 and dew point of 28?? I understand the dendrite growth and temps in upper level but not quite sure why precip not at least freezing when it hits with the above mentioned temps
Thanks!
Sun is coming out now in Crawfordsville! 35 degrees. What a waste of a perfectly good late winter storm!
Chad it looks like the low is moving to the West not the east is this what you’re seeing. And if so does that mean more rain for us or the stalling out
Winter storm warnings have expanded West
The system has definitely tracked further NW. Des Moines is now expecting several inches of snow where they little expecting little to none earlier.
Seriously folks wth is wrong with this place?
wow…ice forming on our trees now…..
.74 inch of whatever has fallen
South of Mulberry. And while I don’t have a proper rain gauge, I can tell you that we surely have had a couple inches of rain at least, just judging by the amount of water collected in the feed trough.
Temp is 34.9 here. Moderately gusty winds; trees are ice-covered.
Since 4AM, 1.30 inches of rain, .7 inches of sleet and .3 tenth’s of ice. Water standing everywhere, tree branches snapped out. What a mess! Now we will cover it over with snow. NE of Frankfort.
Currently showing 1.37″ in the rain gauge. Measured .60″ of sleet and freezing rain this morning. Most of that has melted. 34.9*
Kentland reports. Temp 33 .6 sleet snow trace. Temp dropping roads getting slicker Beginning to see some snow
Man…we have trees and wires are icing over here! Wondering if entire wx station is frozen. Temp is saying 33* and has all day.
Most of the ice and sleet is still hanging on here.
