Update…..rumble of thunder possible tonight
A rumble of thunder is possible tonight with the Snow sleet and frz rain. Bits of elevated cape or instability may sneak in tonight with the potent lift and forcing.
Forecast is unchanged. 1-3″ snow and sleet with highEst totals of that spectrum in northern andnorthwestern part of viewing area.
We are fair game for precip in southwest counties after 5p wIth everyone in precip by midnight. It will go from snow and sleet to ice and change to patchy rain and drizzle Friday morning.
I’ve been hearing up to .20″ of freezing rain for Crawfordsville!
I notice your “hourly” shows temps below freezing all day Friday, until about 6PM – seemed inconsistent with changing to rain mid-morning.
Ron are the ice totals heavier south of Lafayette?
Watching it come from the SSW on radar.
MA in REM temp at 26* with a NE wind at 6 mph
JIm you guessing two to three inches….Co-worker just told me that he heard that the ice total might be higher for Lafayette.
Jim, yes Crawfordsville is projected to get .20″ – .25″ of ice. Randy Ollis at channel 8 said the potential for 1/3″ – 1/2″ of freezing rain exists for Central Indiana!!!
is that amount of freezing rain staying south of lafayette? what is going on? i guess i need to pay more attention to this.
Q is going to be a lot worse than anticipated. More snow and ice according to weather channel live.
Madman I agree. I think it is going to have more moisture than originaly thought. Fortunately temps will rise tomorrow and wont be here for long.
Q needs to keep on gaining moisture, and give us a shalacking for once.
I was thinking the same thing, that there is going to be more than what was predicted. Looking at the radar and I think it might be here before 7pm. Does anyone else think that?
Here is the game. Duane are you in Lafayette ? Snow up north north of Lafayette. Mary Ann looks like Snow Remington Kentland snow. Indy I believe looks like freezing rain ice. Chad has Lafayette 1-3 inches then ice. As I see it Lafayette south could have severe ice issue
We need a shalacking why? I mean, besides the photo ops.
I can’t seem to get anything else accomplished today. I’m just skating back n forth between all the radars & blogs & social media.
Autumn it’s habit forming. MadMan what’s up. This is a interesting storm keeps changing. Monster getting interesting totals are increasing. Bud apology accepted lets have some Fun man. Thanks for your weather input keep it up. Mary Ann man we are going to get whacked tonight. Stay warm. Moe
It looks like its speeding up.
I remember two years ago, the Indy stations were saying 15+ in of snow. Chad was forecasting more conservatively at 8 in. Everyone was anticipating Chad to be wrong, but he wasn’t, he was right on. So, I am trusting his forecast once again. Everyone be safe!
Joy you to. Hey all keep to snow ice updates coming in. We will know soon. Jim
Its peanut butter and jelly time, yo yo, lol
Wow radar sure looks impressive. But it has not reached indiana yet. You watch it will dissipate when it gets to our border.
Jim, I am in Lafayette. I think Chad is going to be right with the snow totals…I’m not ready to buy in .1 ice yet. I think it could be close double that. The radar looks impressive, but that doesn’t always tell the whole picture. Much of that may not reach the ground.
we must have been posting simultaneously, Monster. Now that is funny!
Monster why wouldnt it disapate, thats nothing out of the ordinary, always the SOS AROUND HERE!!!!, lol
If it does hold together we need to watch could get dicey.
I hope it does hold together man, it would be nice, there is a couple of models out there that suggest over 5 for white county
The ice is scary..but my word it sure does.look pretty on all the trees…I hope we get a real good snow fall still this winter..please Mr. Winter..don’t forget us here in Lafayette with a good ole fashion snow storm..at least 6+ inches just once this winter…
The dewpoint is at 22. Hunidity 76%. Don’t see any dry air instrusion! Everything looks good to go!
Hey Stoogies lets get ready.
Duane more ice than snow in Lafayette stay safe brother
