East-Central Fountain County & WLFI Now All Freezing Rain……1.2″ Snow/Sleet WLFI

February 21st, 2013 at 10:08 pm by under Chad's WLFI Weather Blog

Measured 1.2″ of snow & sleet at WLFI.  It is now light freezing rain at WLFI with Val in east-central Fountain County reporting all freezing rain.

The winds are cranking up a lot now.  I have sustained winds at 22 mph with gusts to 30 mph as of 10 p.m.

I am not too concerned about power outages.  With it being 0.10″ of glaze, it likely won’t be enough to cause outages.

No thunder reported from any where in the viewing area, but thunder has been reported in southwest Indiana & noticed recent cloud-to-ground lightning strikes about 40-50 miles southwest of Evansville, Indiana.

Not happy with the freezing rain… I thought it was too cold for rain.. Guess i have a lot to learn… With it so windy and it already freezing is there a chance for power outages??
