Temperatures are tanking with passage of Arctic front. It has gone from 45 to 32 in 1 hour at Fowler with a wind gust to 49 mph. Here at WLFI, we have dropped from 46 to 33 in 35 minutes with a wind gust to 44 mph.
With a quick freeze & some flurries & few snow showers, be aware of a few slick spots on roads. If there is any snowfall accumulation tonight-early Tuesday morning, it would be very minor.
Everything looks good regarding Thursday-Friday forecast. No changes needed. 1-3″ of snow & sleet will do for the area with 1/8″ glaze ice before changing to areas of rain/drizzle. Temperatures will rise from 27 at onset of precipitation later Thursday to 38 by Friday morning. We will likely see a fall to near 34 by Friday afternoon with a few flurries.
The heavy 8-16″ snowfall amounts will run from Nebraska through Iowa to southern Wisconsin to perhaps Michigan. 4-8″ of snowfall is possible around Chicago.
