46 to 33 in 35 Minutes with Gust to 44 mph……………Thursday-Friday Info Based On Latest Data

February 18th, 2013 at 11:54 pm by under Chad's WLFI Weather Blog

Temperatures are tanking with passage of Arctic front.  It has gone from 45 to 32 in 1 hour at Fowler with a wind gust to 49 mph.  Here at WLFI, we have dropped from 46 to 33 in 35 minutes with a wind gust to 44 mph.

With a quick freeze & some flurries & few snow showers, be aware of a few slick spots on roads.  If there is any snowfall accumulation tonight-early Tuesday morning, it would be very minor.

Everything looks good regarding Thursday-Friday forecast.  No changes needed.  1-3″ of snow & sleet will do for the area with 1/8″ glaze ice before changing to areas of rain/drizzle.  Temperatures will rise from 27 at onset of precipitation later Thursday to 38 by Friday morning.  We will likely see a fall to near 34 by Friday afternoon with a few flurries.

The heavy 8-16″ snowfall amounts will run from Nebraska through Iowa to southern Wisconsin to perhaps Michigan.  4-8″ of snowfall is possible around Chicago.

NO! I will not let myself get excited. It’s going to be like every other “storm” for the past few years. We will get a dusting that doesn’t even cover the grass and it will melt within a day. Another dud of a winter…
