Update
On going forecast for Thursday to Friday looks very consistent. Snow will likely move in Thursday afternoon. It will then change to sleet then freezing rain from southwest to northeast and eventually rain as temps go from 26 to 36 to 28.
In terms of accumulation before a change over to rain it would be good to get a round of really good sampling to input into models before talking about accumulations. Right now storm is in a zone of much less sampling in the pacific.
Regardless model consistency has been surprisingly good. Putting this system against others in an analog data set a snow and ice event is overwhelm impede with no rain. However we need to watch this and see if track changes which will determine precip types and duration of those types
I know it’s early Chad but can you kind of pinpoint a timeline? Will the freezing rain come in during rush hour? Or is it too soon to pinpoint? Thanks for working on Sunday!!! Hope you had a great weekend
I’ll be the first to say that I’m not crazy about the ice. I hope it’s only snow. I will be fun to watch Chad’s forecast this week for sure.
Thanks your on it chad
I have been following this very close. As I am starting a new job, where I will be driving all the time. I hope it dont get bad with ice. Chad can you at least tell us when we can expect the temps to get warm again and stay there?
Jim- hey just wanted to say I read the blog all the time although I don’t post much. I really enjoy your insight on the weather and of course the humor to. Keep it up
Hey Josh thank you welcome we try to joke have gun and be serious. Some like us some don’t. Post more your always welcome. Chad is awesome and he speaks his mind. Welcome again post more. Jim /Moe
Hello, fellow weather bloggers. I’m desperately hoping for no ice. My son has to drive from Muncie to Indy Friday evening for his weekend of Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps camp. The last thing I want is my college kid to have to deal with ice on I69. I will be a nervous wreck!!! I know I can’t keep him in a bubble, but I want to keep him alive. Last year a BSU student was driving back from Indy to Muncie after a day of student teaching and hit a slick spot on I69, rolled her car, and was killed. That did it for me. I now am a basket case any time he (or his sister) has to get on the road and there is any type of ice/sleet/freezing rain. You know 20-year olds….they think they are invincible and road warriors. I grew up in the Region and learned how to drive on this stuff and ice even scares me and I am a snowdrift breaker!!!
Jim/Moe and all the other “Stooges”…
It’s not a matter of “liking or disliking” you/others…I don’t even know any of you personally..
All I know of you/others is what I see/read here on Chad’s Blog..and there’s a difference between having “fun” and being a bit “inappropriate” at times in the comments made/posted..
Nothing wrong with enjoying life and having fun..even on a Weather Blog..however it should be noted that some people could be offended and discouraged from participating because of often-times inappropriate language/comments..
I know I’m not the only one who feels this way because there are a lot of people who used to read/post here who no longer do so..and please keep in mind that it’s not only MEN who read/post here…
I’ve never ever been a “prude” and consider myself to be very “open-minded” but with that being said..there is a time & a place for everything..
JMHO (just my humble opinion) of course..
Hi Sher. I agree however I have not seen any inappropriate language I agree with you on this.but I just don’t see where this takes place. Please continue to blog we see a joking happy group. And I condem bad language. But I don’t see who did that. Moe
Lisa the state dies. A great job on the interstates pre salting etc. I know you are worried. The roads might just be wet then. Moe
