Sunday Icy Mix (Trending to About 80% Freezing Rain & 20% Sleet & Bit of Snow)January 25th, 2013 at 10:23 pm by Chad Evans under Chad's WLFI Weather Blog
Everyone have a great weekend! I have spent so much time forecasting at all hours every day, I feel I have sacrificed too much time from my daughter & wife. I am devoting my entire weekend to being with them.
The next posting will be Monday morning.
Looks like we may end up with about 6-7 hours of wintry precipitation Sunday in GENERALLY the noon-6 or 7 time frame in the viewing area. It may start as sleet, even a bit of snow with freezing rain, but will go to all freezing rain in a hurry. In fact, it appears 80% of the precipitation will likely fall as freezing rain, glazing surfaces.
Ice accumulations are likely, but they look on the order of about 0.10″. Some minimal sleet &/or snow accumulation is possible in places.
Freezing rain will quickly changeover to rain Sunday night as temperatures rise above freezing. It currently appears the changeover to all rain will develop southwest to northeast beginning around 6 p.m. near Covington & working up to Lafayette by 9 p.m. & then Rochester by 11 p.m.
Stay tuned for updates to the forecast.
