This is the main reason I just cannot give into just 1″ of snow or nothing for us. Up to 4″ of snow has fallen in a narrow band in north-central Illinois. How? Very efficient dendrite production caused by strong frontgenic forcing/banding in 850-700 mb SGZ with clipper. Ratios are on the order of 20:1 in that area that had just chance of flurries/light snow today.
Here in our area, scattered snow showers continue to pass through with anywhere from no snow to as much as 0.7″ as of 2:50 p.m. I have had just a trace at WLFI 2 miles northwest of West Lafayette.
