Upper jet pattern is bringing our Arctic blast & also Europe’s Arctic blast & winter storm of snow, sleet & freezing rain from London to Paris & Frankfurt.  Meanwhile, temperatures have soared into the 50s in western Russia & the Ukraine.  Up to 36″ will fall with the lake effect in New York.

All this said, after California’s frost & freeze, had record warmth yesterday in parts of the state.

This pattern will tend to hang on (cold here & in Europe & warm in southern California, Russia & Ukraine), but will break some early next week.
