Weak clipper is approaching & will pass tonight-early Thursday with a few flurries & snow showers.
Meanwhile, high-/mid-level cloud shield is moving up from the south as second winter storm begins to take shape in the southern U.S. 12″ of snowfall is possible in the Smokies with heavy snowfall as far north as New Jersey.
The grass could be whitened as far south as southern Mississippi with up to 6″ of snow in northern Alabama (the 6″ on the higher hilltops & mountains with more like 2-4″ on the lowlands & valleys), where Winter Storm Watch is in effect. Winter Storm Watch is in effect for central Mississippi, too, where up to 4″ of snow may fall. Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the Atlanta metro area.
Clipper will cool high temperatures to near 31 with gusty north winds up to 31 mph tomorrow after 36 today.
