Event Winding Down

January 13th, 2013 at 6:06 pm by under Chad's WLFI Weather Blog

Measured about 0.1″ glaze ice & a trace of snow & sleet from event.

Precipitation will wind down this evening, but slick areas on roads are likely this evening through tomorrow morning.

Up to 0.25″ ice & 3″ fell in Illinois with EF2 tornado in western Kentucky & sporadic wind damage (wind to 75 mph) in parts of southwest Indiana to the southside of Indianapolis.  1-2.50″ of additional rainfall occurred, which will lead to river flooding this week.

Overall, the week looks tranquil in cold.  A clipper may skim by Thursday & bring some snow showers.

Just had a hairy ride up #231 from Laffy. Decided to stay off the Interstate even though it was probably salted better. Just as we got off at #24 all the fire trucks and ambulances from Remington were headed southbound on the I.

We made it home safe and sound.

MA in REM temp at 26*

The roads and sidewalks have a light glaze, but it’s nothing impassable. I just biked to the library in it with no problem :-p.

The Interstate is in bad shape. Icy and speeding truckers ideas just out there. Truckers driving unsafe fir conditions.
