No need to change anything with forecast.  Near 3 to as much as 7″ from northwest to southeast across viewing area.  Wind will be factor with system with highest winds in the latter and proceeding part of snow event.  Gusts to 40 mph are likely with considerable blowing and drifting snow with reduced visibilities. In southwest Indiana where 9″ of snow may fall, winds may gust to 45 mph leading to blizzard conditions thus blizzard watch is in effect there.  Refer to previous blog posting for snowfall map and timing. Some changes are still possible with totals and timing so stay tuned.

Chad…Are you still considering a further north track or do you think it will stay about where the models have it now?

  2. Hannah says:

I’m so excited for it to start snowing! To have a “White Christmas”, we have to have the snow come early. Oh well, At least when I’m done opening my presents I can go enjoy the cold!!! (I really enjoy cold weather!!)

  3. Teri says:

Round and round she goes where she stops nobody knows… However I think Chad has a pretty good idea. But only mother nature knows for sure :)

I’m still holding out hope we see something like the latest 18z NAM is still showing… http://grib2.com/gis-snow-overlays3.php3?BASEHR=18Z&STATIONID=IND

  10. Tom H says:

I’m still holding out hope that we see something closer to the latest 18z NAM model. I know 3-7 is more consistant with most models… but this one is just so much more fun to look at! http://wxcaster.com/gis-snow-overlays12z.htm

  11. Ryan H says:

Bad news snow lovers….New NAM really seems to be pushing this thing further south and east. Not good snow wise.

  12. Chad Evans says:

Merry Christmas weather family! Analog shows pretty high case of quick nw shifts n these events at last minute but right now that is not seen. Happens frequently though Need to watch that. Up to 12″ southeast Missouri and southern Illinois with gusts of 45

  13. Ryan H says:

Merry Christmas Chad. Nam not looking good.

  14. Jim says:

Ryan I totally agree. It’s going south. Looks like 2-3 inches. And wind.

  15. Ryan H says:

YEah. I’m kinda disappointed. I guess the high pressure north of us wins out. Hmmmm, maybe it’s a glitch?? Ha!

  16. Ryan H says:

I guess we’ll wait and see what the GFS says here in about an hour.

  17. charlene says:

Ho hum..i will be bummed if we do NOT get a lot of snow…Merry Christmas Chad ;)

  18. Ryan H says:

The GFS was fairly in line with the NAM. Will still get some snow here…probably not a lot though. It will still make it pretty!

  23. Tom H. says:

Wow, the latest 00z was awful! Lafayette went from 12″ on the 18z to 3″ on the 00z. Looks like the 12+ band is moving south of Indy.

  24. Bill in C'ville says:

The national weather service is actually calling for the heaviest snow to fall 40 miles north of either side of line from vincennes to indianapolis line, so basically they are still unsure! But when i see the rain snow line west of cincinnati that is usually a set up for some decent amount of snow west of indianapolis.

  25. mad man from afghanistan says:

I hope your right bill in seeville, lol, i want to see this place buried………
