Forecast Largely Unchanged Since Yesterday
I still like around 3 to as much as 7″ across the viewing area. Not going higher due to big severe weather outbreak in the southern & southeast U.S. with lots of heavy rainfall zapping some of the moisture. Otherwise 5-10″ would likely fall in the viewing area.
Gusty winds of up to 40 mph towards the latter half of the system & thereafter will create substantial blowing & drifting snow with reduced visibilities.
I have backed off any mention of sleet, given the solidity of model soundings indicating any sleet would be near Indianapolis to Bloomington & southeastward as Canadian high will not allow any farther northwestward push, it appears.
This is still subject to change but that around 3 to 7″ looks good.

Chad, do I think lafayette will get a warning or advisory out of this storm?
Hopefully this storm gets a little stronger and pushes a little more NW.
Chad, thanks for dedication! South Bend has Fulton County in the two-four range. This time, I am hoping SB is correct!!!!!
Merry Christmas,
ML
NOOOOO!!! We need that storm to push a little more northward. I would like to be in the 8-9″ area. C’mon Chad – make it happen!!
Horrible weather in the South, severe storms, tornados…I hope all stay safe! And thank you Chad!
We are hoping to get significant snow from this system for fun sledding and fort building!
Thank goodness it may be downgraded. People need to travel safely to work and back home from their holiday gatherings.
Hoping we get the heavier snow amounts here in Lafayette ..Merry CHRISTmas to all…
Chad is saying 3-7 inches accu weather says3 inches. Go with chads forecast
My accu. App has 6″ total for Clinton co. Maybe someone from accuweather is watchin chad’s forecast?? Lol
Models now seem to be trending a little south….
Had enough of this Snow talk…looooooool
Think I’ll hibernate until Spring
Wishing everyone a BLESSED Christmas
Of course its going south. Y wouldnt it topical Indiana… Or at least Lafayette. Loohs like we might only get 2 in. I hate Indiana weather.
They issued watches in southern Indiana. I suppose they will give us winter weather advisory. Hay chad how about an update what’s your take on this.
I want a lot of snow for christmas! I am with James! but I would rather see 9-12! LOL Merry christmas all!
Charlene…love your CHRISTmas offering!! Lisa, Teri, we shall suffer through these snow lovers who want whopping amounts of snow, strong winds to blow and drift…I pray everyone stays safe. And the outbreak of tors in the south tomorrow sounds dire for sure
Blessings to all,
MA in REM
Blizzard watches being posted to are south and southwest.
Figures, things never shift our way.
Merry Christmas, Mary Anne. I think we are “lucking out” on this one. Don’t get me wrong, I like winter and snow…just not the dangerous kind. The Blizzard of Jan. 2011 was enough for me! As I live in the country, being stranded is not much fun.
Just watched Gregory on channel 6. He’s got Bloomington with 15″, and us with 4″. What a joke, I hope they get dry slotted
Lol
well at least we all we have some snow reguardless of the amount, but ya never know the whole state might get 10 plus……………….
Nicole at WTHR-13 is forecasting 5″ to 9″ for us. Still think goddess Meteora is gonna lay a sneaker on us…
No!
Push it further north and not south
I need my boyfriend to get out of Indy and fly out West
Model runs are all over the place does anyone know anything
Yes Monster….nature is fickle! Thats what I know.
