Blizzard of ’12 to Our Northwest, But Still Rain to Period of Snow HereDecember 8th, 2012 at 3:15 pm by Chad Evans under Chad's WLFI Weather Blog
Up to 20″ of snow, gusts to 43 mph & wind chills as low as -30 in the northern Plains/Midwest will result in white-out conditions Sunday. Blizzard & Winter Storm Warnings are up for the Dakotas to Wisconsin. Looks like those heaviest 20″ totals will be in northeast Minnesota with some lake enhancement with generally a 6-12″ snowfall over a much larger area from the Dakotas to Wisconsin.
Here, looks like rain moving back in, with even an isolated t’storm. Rain Sunday night will end as a period of wet snow early Monday morning. Again, less than 1″ of slush may whiten the grass in places. Cold air will plunge way down into Texas as a Blue Norther with a brief period of snow/sleet Dallas to Little Rock to Memphis. Frost is possible to far south Texas with mid 20s to San Antonio early next week. It appears the worst of the cold plunge will be in the Plains, whereas we our highs will be near 33 with lows near 20 (not abnormal for December).
Breezy to windy, cold weather will roar in to start the week, followed by a warm-up later next week with highs back in the middle 40s to near 50.
