Areas of Fog Tonight, Some of It Very Dense…………Wednesday Forecast a Bit Problematic Due to “Dirty High”
Fog, some of it very dense, is likely tonight. Right now, Dense Fog Advisory is in effect per NWS until tomorrow morning Newton, Jasper, Benton, White, Pulaski, Fulton, Cass & Miami counties as of 11 p.m.
Models have all of the fog & low stratus burning off early tomorrow morning. However, with surface high pressure over area, I question whether we can get rid of the low clouds & fog by noon or even 2 p.m. If the fog & low clouds can really hang on, then the high temperature forecast of 60-65 will be off. If everything goes by model guidance, we should reach those levels & have a mostly sunny day.
We will wait & see, as these “Dirty Highs” are finicky & can turn what looked to be a nice, mostly sunny, warm day into a gray, foggy/hazy one that is much cooler. It usually occurs in fall-winter when the sun angle is so low, it has a hard time mixing out any fog/low stratus under inversion & sinking air of the surface high.

And there is definitely pea soup up this way!! Wow….really dense but is now lifting.
35* and zero wind.
It was extremely foggy driving to work this morning. Even at this hour it doesn’t seem like it has lifted any (9:22Am). I know of at least one school cancelation, can’t say I blame them.
As Yukon Cornelius would say, Its think as pea-soup out there.
Still extremely foggy here…visibility perhaps a quarter-mile.
