103 REPORTS OF TORNADOES………….97 MPH STRAIGHT-LINE WIND GUST MEASURED IN IOWA…..

There have been 103 reports of tornadoes in the Plains today with 201 reports of large hail & wind.  Not only have there been many tornadoes & many, many reports of large hail, but the downburst & straight-line wind reports have been numerous & impressive.  Measured gusts of 97 mph were measured southeast of Des Moines & 78 mph gust southwest of Des Moines.  Wind gust measured to 84 mph at the National Weather Service Office in Wichita.

NOT CONCERNED ABOUT SEVERE STORMS FOR US TONIGHT……..

I am not concerned about any of the storms to our west or northwest affecting us tonight.  Tonight looks warm, rather muggy with partly to mostly cloudy skies & some fog with temperatures near 60 to the lower 60s, before rising into the middle 60s.  As the surface warm front works back northward tonight, it does appears a couple isolated showers/t’showers may pop.

SUNDAY……..

Sunday looks warm, muggy & summer-like with highs of 79-84.  A nasty severe weather outbreak will continue to our northwest, west & southwest.  This will arrive into our area late tomorrow night-Monday morning, as a weakening line of showers & t’storms.
