Snowfall Totals

Thank you to all spotters for your valuable reports.  I appreciate your accuracy & dedication.  I know we had a wave of snow earlier in the day, then it melted, which was followed by a second wave.  Keeping track of both helped to give the most accurate totals.

Up to 6″ fell in western Pulaski & far northeastern Jasper County.  Wheatfield spotter reported 5.0″ & 6.0″ was reported near Medaryville.

Roads are still bad in those areas that got the most snow with significant blowing & drifting still occurring.  Even with the less amount here at West Lafayette, there was a lot of blowing & drifting last night with peak wind gusts to 36 mph.  It is still windy today with temperatures running just 15-20 degrees.  Peak gust for the viewing areas was measured at Rensselaer early this morning with 41 mph.  Fowler gusted to 40 mph.

With this molasses-like cold in place, it will take time to erode it away.  That said, the next system will begin as snow late Monday night-early Tuesday morning, before changing to rain.  Minor accumulation of 1-2″ is currently possible.
