Raw, Cold Saturday….Wintry Mix Will Now Be All Rain In North &Northeast
All of the mix of snow, sleet & rain in our north & northeast this morning (0.2″ snow & sleet near Rochester, Denver, Peru & Greentown with trace at Winamac) has gone to rain, but a chunk of the area has been in a break this afternoon with just patchy drizzle.
The second wave of rainfall is now moving in from the southwest & will overspread the area this afternoon-evening. The cold, blustery conditions will continue with some wet snowfall possible tonight.
As you can see below, the GFS model snowfall still indicates some minor accumulation. My thinking is that the accumulation will be patchy & that the 1-2″ of slush in the north will be patchy, as the snowfall looks more snow showery than a solid band of snow. Nonetheless, some of you will have the grass whitened tonight. Temperatures will drop to near 30.
Sunday looks good with sunshine, but a brisk north wind will make it feel a bit cooler than the high of 41-46 from northeast to southwest (45 in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area). The sun will look & feel good though!
After 40s & dry weather all of next week, there are signs of a brief, but fairly potent burst of colder weather next weekend with highs of only 30-35 & lows of 15-20. However, it then looks to warm by to 50s by around February 14th with some rain.
