Cold, Dry Air Bleeding In (Mix North & Northeast Tonight)

It is not even raining yet & many places are now dropping into the 30s with the “wedge” arriving.  Cold, dry air behind a sort of back door surface cold front is leaking in the air, which will cool further once it starts to rain from the clouds.  This will result in a mix of snow, sleet & rain in our north & northeast areas with a raw, cold rain elsewhere with lows of 33-37 tonight from northeast to southwest.

Rain will continue to overspread the area tonight-Saturday morning, may taper to areas of drizzle/mist for a while in the afternoon, before some rain returns & changes to a period of snow tomorrow night.  Less 1″ of accumulation will occur in the area with 1-2″, perhaps in northern Newton, Jasper, Pulaski & Fulton counties.

It looks raw & damp Saturday with strong east-northeast to east winds of 15-20 mph with gusts to 32 mph.  Highs will be 38-45 with lows Saturday night-Sunday morning near 30.

Sunday looks better with a good amount of sunshine & 41-46 with brisk winds of 10-15 mph with gusts to 25 mph.
