More Windy, Spring Weather to Return This Week

January 29th, 2012 at 8:21 pm by under Chad's WLFI Weather Blog

Highs in the 50s, to even lower 60s are likely early to mid week with increasing potential of showers & t’storms (even Monday will be near 44 over any lingering snow pack & near 50 in areas without it).  It appears severe t’storms are possible in the Mid-Mississippi & Lower Ohio Valleys & the Mid & Deep South Wednesday-Thursday.  However, it currently looks as if any severe threat will stay to our south, but it will be monitored.  Every day looks windy with gusts of 40 to even 45 mph are likely on numerous days.

Winter will return late, late week-next weekend, albeit briefly.  Minor accumulating snowfall is possible Friday-Saturday with much colder highs in the 20s & 30s.

Right now, Super Bowl Sunday looks partly cloudy & cool with highs in the 30s.  The snowfall will have exited by Saturday night, so Sunday looks good.

Someone told me they heard on the news that a possible snow system is developing that could move this way around the weekend timeframe.

  4. Chad says:

There is talk about Saturday becoming something, that’s what Jesse was talking about last night, things are still forming, but could be at least snow showers.

The only reason this system for the weekend is getting attention is because of the super bowl

  7. Chebon says:

Actually I believe the system is being downplayed so far because the SuperBowl is this weekend and they don’t want to cause panic.. Another online sight has been talking about the possibilty of this system since Wednesday of last week. I try to merge what they say and what Chad says because they are by far in my opinion the best. They aren’t afraid to let people know of the possibilty well in advance of what could happen.. They aren’t looking for Brownie points…

I sure am liking this weather. And Mary Ann, tell your hubby if he doesn’t get to soak a line before the weather turns, and he gets to itching too bad, there’s always ice fishing. lol
