Is Your County Under a Burn Ban?

High fire danger continues via the gusty, dry, warm winds today.  Burn bans continue for 54 of the 92 Indiana counties, including several counties in the WLFI viewing area.  

As of today, most of the WLFI area is now considered “abnormally dry” (by NOAA U.S. Drought Monitor) or in the first indications of longer-term drought.  The short-term dryness is substantial.  If not for so much rainfall early in the summer, it would be much, much worse in our viewing area, in terms of longer-term dryness or drought.

Blackford Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 11:40:09 EDT As of September 27, 2010, a countywide burn ban is in effect until further notice issued by the County Commissioners.
Boone Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 13:42:39 EDT The county-wide burn ban issued by county commissioners in Boone County has been extended until October 5, 2010.
Brown Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 11:40:41 EDT Brown County Commissioners have issued a burn ban for the entire county until further notice.
Carroll Local In Effect 9/27/2010 16:47:18 EDT Dave McDowell with the Carroll County EMA has stated that a fire chief-issued burn ban is in effect for Carroll County until further notice.
Clark Countywide In Effect 9/29/2010 09:19:18 EDT EPA Rule clarifies that Clark County is unable to burn anything openly unless it is a recreational use.

Decatur Countywide In Effect 9/20/2010 22:13:22 EDT Commissioners decided today – September 20 – to invoke a Declaration Emergency – No Burn Declaration – until October 4 unless rescinded prior to that date. See Attachment for Declaration.
Delaware Countywide In Effect 9/25/2010 20:37:50 EDT Delaware County Commissioners have declared a Burn Ban with specific restriction (see attachments), as reported by Jason Rogers.
Dubois Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 11:42:21 EDT The Board of Commissioners for Dubois County has declared a burn ban for the entire county and will continue until further notice.
Fayette Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 11:42:55 EDT The Fayette County Commissioners have enacted a burn ban for the entire county. The declaration takes place on September 13, 2010 and will be reviewed every 7 days until the threat has dissipated or it has been determined to be a non-necessary action.
Floyd Local In Effect 9/28/2010 15:50:07 EDT The Floyd County Fire Chiefs have issued a burn ban for all jurisdictions in Floyd County until further notice. This is in accordance with local ordinance.
Franklin Countywide In Effect 9/27/2010 10:31:23 EDT As of September 24, 2010 a countywide burn ban is in effect for Franklin County issued by the County Commissioners until further notice.
Gibson Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 11:45:34 EDT The Board of Commissioners of Gibson County, Indiana, pursuant to Indiana Code 10-4-1 et. Seq., resolve and request that there be no open burning or discarding of matches, ashes or any burning materials from vehicles within the confines of Gibson County, Indiana.
Greene Lifted 9/29/2010 16:56:02 EDT The Greene County burn ban has been lifted due to the expiration of prior ban. There has been no word of any extension of the burn ban at this time.
Hamilton Local In Effect 9/28/2010 15:28:01 EDT All five fire chiefs in Hamilton County have issued a burn ban for all jurisdictions in Hamilton County in accordance with 2008 Indiana Fire Code Section 307.1.1 until futher notice.
Hancock Local In Effect 9/28/2010 11:44:38 EDT The Hancock County Fire Chiefs Association in conjunction with the Hancock County Firefighters Mutual Aid Association has proclaimed an “Open Burning Ban” for areas surrounding the following fire departments: Buck Creek Twp., Fortville, Fountaintown, Green Twp., Greenfield Fire Territory, Jackson-Blue River Twp., McCorsdville, Shirley, Sugar Creek Twp., and Wilkinson.This action is taken pusuant to Indiana Fire Code 307.1.1 and 675 IAC 22-2.4-4 which states “The Fire Chief is authorized to require open burning to be immediately discintinued if such burning constitutes a hazardous condition.” Those persons found in violation of this proclamation may be fined and or billed by the fire department and possibly subject to additonal criminal penalties. So ordered the 13th day of September, 2010 at 2:00pm.
Harrison Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 16:02:13 EDT The Harrison County Commissioners have issued a county-wide burn ban until further notice. This is in accordance to I.C. 10-14-3-29.
Hendricks Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 22:37:46 EDT Effective today, September 21, 2010, Hendricks County Commissioners officially proclaimed a burn ban for all of Hendricks County effective until October 5, 2010. This ban has been extended.
Henry Countywide In Effect 9/23/2010 12:25:40 EDT Due to the current draught conditions the Henry County Commissioners have declared a local emergency and have issued the attached burn ban effective until October 13th.

Morgan Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 15:38:01 EDT The County Commissioners of Morgan County have issued a county-wide burn ban until further notice. This is in accordance with I.C. 10-14-3-29.
Ohio Countywide In Effect 9/25/2010 17:22:43 EDT EMA Director Tom Work advises that the County Commissioners have issued a verbal burn ban. The formal document will be signed later today and posted on WebEOC.
Orange Countywide In Effect 9/8/2010 11:19:53 EDT Orange County Commissioners have activated a county wide burn ban. No open flame burning is permitted in Orange County until further notice.
Owen Countywide In Effect 9/21/2010 15:07:30 EDT As of September 20, 2010 the county burn ban for Owen County continues. The ban shall be in place until October 4, 2010. Randolph Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 15:31:51 EDT Randolph County Commissioners have issued a burn ban for the entire county. This Emergency Order issued this 21st day of September, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. and shall continue until rescinded by action of the Board, but shall be reviewed every seven (7) days.
Rush Countywide In Effect 9/29/2010 09:29:53 EDT Rush County EMA has confirmed that Rush County is under a county-wide burn ban until further notice.

Tipton Countywide In Effect 9/24/2010 12:23:38 EDT At 1200 Hours 9/24/2010 Tipton County Commissioners will issue a burn ban that is in effect until further notice.
Union Countywide In Effect 9/21/2010 21:13:10 EDT Union County Commisioners have issued burn ban for Union County until further notice. There is to be no open burnning in the County.
Vanderburgh Countywide In Effect 9/22/2010 10:16:01 EDT Vanderburgh County Commissioners have signed a ban on open burns until further notice.
Wabash Countywide In Effect 9/24/2010 16:24:26 EDT Wabash County Commissioners have declared an open burn effective at 16:00 hours on September 24, 2010 until further notice.

Wayne Countywide In Effect 9/28/2010 11:47:08 EDT Wayne County Commissioners has declared an Emergency Order, Temporarily Prohibiting Open Burning. This emergency is effect until rescinded by the board of commissioners, with review every 7 days.
