Coolest Halloween in 8 Years………

The afternoon high yesterday at WLFI was 50.4 degrees & temperatures ran 40-45 degrees during Trick-or-Treating.
This was the coolest Halloween in 8 years.
Now, the official number at WLFI will be 51.3 degrees in my records, as that is the number recorded at 12:00 a.m. on October 31, before temperature fell. The official National Weather Service COOP station at West Lafayette also recorded a high of 51 degrees.
Nonetheless, this number (50 or 51 degrees) made 2009 the coolest Halloween since 2001 when the high temperature was 48 degrees & temperatures ran 39-44 degrees during Trick-or-Treating.
The coolest Halloween prior to 2001 occurred in 1993, when the high was 41 degrees & temperatures ran 34-37 degrees during Trick-or-Treating.
It was also the second coldest morning of the season on this November 1 at WLFI with 28.9 degrees (coldest of the season occurred on October 18 with 28.3 degrees) & the coldest morning of the season for some of you.
